Denton County Neighborhood Pounded By Hail

OAK POINT (CBSDFW.COM) -- A Denton County neighborhood is assessing the damage left by severe weather that swept across North Texas on Thursday.

No one was injured, but residents in Oak Point sustained a number of broken home and car windows and damaged roofs.

Some homeowners say they hunkered down inside when the storm hit; others fled before the storm arrived.

Rafael Castro, whose wife is expecting a baby next week, left with his wife before the severe weather hit. The couple, along with their two-year-old son, returned to find water, glass and hail inside their home.

"If she would've been here when that window broke in the house, forget it. Who knows what would have happened," said Castro. "Our son might have gotten hurt, because we have a two-and a half year-old. So who knows."

Castro, who was told that his roof will need replacing, isn't the only one who will be facing home repairs in the coming days.

Resident Chris Kuehne says the golf-ball to baseball-sized hail fell so hard and for so long, he wouldn't be surprised if he too needs a new roof.

"It was like a white curtain," said Kuehne. "We looked through the backyard, couldn't see our fence. It was just a wall of white."
