Delonte West Acquired By Texas Legends

FRISCO (CBSDFW.COM) - Former Dallas Mavericks guard Delonte West was recently acquired by the D-Legaue Texas Legends, the team announced on Friday.

The Mavericks released Delonte West from the team after suspending him twice at the beginning of the 2012-2013 NBA season for 'conduct detrimental to the team'.  West has been forthcoming about his struggles with  bipolar disorder, which he manages with the help of medication - but it was never indicated if his disorder was a factor in his initial release from the Mavs.

West (6-4, 180) was selected 24th overall by the Boston Celtics in the 2004 NBA Draft.

West played with the Celtics for three years. Following that, West was traded to Cleveland where he played for three years before returning to Boston for the 2010-11 season and then to Dallas where he averaged 9.5 pts, 2.3 reb, and 3.1 ast last season.

With West joining the team in the next few days, the Legends will currently have five former first-round picks on the roster.

West also makes the seventh player on the current roster with NBA experience (Justin Dentmon, Melvin Ely, Luther Head, Rashad McCants, Sean Singletary, Delonte West, Sean Williams).
