Delays Amid Small Fire At Love Field Control Tower

DALLAS (AP)  An electrical problem that overheated a computer is blamed for a small fire at the main Dallas Love Field tower that forced controllers to evacuate to a backup site.

No injuries were reported in the incident late Thursday afternoon.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Lynn Lunsford says the fire broke out in a computer area. Lunsford says normal operations resumed about an hour later. He says at least seven flights diverted.

Love Field is home to Southwest Airlines, which reported more than 30 flight delays due to the tower problem.

Dallas Fire-Rescue personnel later determined that the smoke was coming from an overheated electrical component.
