'My Friend Is Dead Beside Me': 911 Calls During Deadly Road Rage Shooting Released
BURLESON, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) - The 911 calls from a deadly road rage shooting in Burleson were released Tuesday as the suspect in the shooting faces new charges.
According to the calls, the driver and his friend, Todd Neal, were being shot at while they were being chased by someone. Neal was identified by family as the deceased victim in the shooting.
The road rage incident lasted up until the victims pulled into the Burleson Police Department, according to new details released. The suspect, Keilon Warren, was located after people saw him not too far away from the scene, walking in circles and waving a gun around.
Warren was found with a friend who he called to pick him up from the scene. The friend told police Warren told him his car had been hit and that he was chasing the person who hit him.
The 911 calls by the driver told a different story as the friend of Neal told police someone was chasing him, and he had no idea why. The friend said he didn't who was chasing him or why they were after him. He also believed Neal was already dead after being shot.
Driver: "I have a car following me, trailing me. I don't know who they are. They started shooting at us. My friend is shot dead right beside me sir, ma'am. They shot... I'm headed to the police department."
Operator: "Where are you at, sir?"
Driver: I'm coming down Summercrest. The car is still following me. They have a gun, ma'am, and they are firing at my the car. My friend is dead beside me, ma'am."
Warren is currently in jail, facing a murder charge. And after consulting with the district attorney Tuesday, there are also plans to charge him with tampering with evidence and felony possession of a firearm.
According to the affidavit, when police found Warren, they said he had a large amount of cash with him but no gun. They did find a shell casing in the car he was driving and said it matched shells from another shooting that Warren is tied to in Fort Worth.
Family members told CBS 11 Neal's girlfriend was expecting to deliver a baby at any time.
