Dallas Turns Purple For Domestic Violence Awareness

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Almost 20 people are physically abused every minute by their partner in the United States, and the Dallas Domestic Task Force is looking to bring the community together to end domestic violence in the city.
The Task Force is planning to Paint the Town Purple for the month of October in honor of National Domestic Violence Month to raise awareness on how many people suffer from domestic violence.
Individual ways to Paint The Town Purple can be done by wearing a purple ribbon, wearing clothes that are purple or painting a fingernail purple.
The Clothesline Project will be featured at the Dallas Love Field Airport's Art Gallery and in the Dallas City Hall Lobby.
The program showcases the violence in the community with shirts hanging on clotheslines created by survivors in the local Dallas shelters. Their goal is to honor survivors, memorialize victims, and heal and educate the people in the community.
