Dallas To Review Business Contracts Linked To Price Indictment

DALLAS (CBS 11 NEWS) - Nearly a dozen businesses were referenced in the John Wiley Price indictment.  The CBS 11 I-Team uncovered the names of at least six of those companies.

Today Dallas city leaders are taking that list and reviewing their own contracts.

At this point - It's all about the City of Dallas being pro-active.  But Councilman Phillip Kingston is genuinely concerned.

"We have the county, our sister governmental agency, that has allegations that it has some improper relationships with these companies," Kingston told us today.  "Out of prudence we've got to look at that."

The District 14 representative wants to be reassured Dallas city's contracts with the businesses named in the Price indictment were done by the books.

"The only thing I've asked them to do is identify whether the city has existing contracts with the companies you identified in your report," Kingston explained.

The I-Team cross-checked information from the federal indictment with years of Dallas County documents posted online to confirm the names of six businesses.  These are businesses accused of receiving preferential treatment by Commissioner John Wiley Price.

·         "Business S" - Schlumberger SEMA (sold to Atos in 2003)
·         "Business A" - Atos
·         "Business B" -  Bearing Point
·         "Business U" - Unisys Corp.
·         "Business Q" -  QNet Information Services
·         "Business H" - Hillwood Development Corporation

"What could you guys do moving forward once you start to identify what sort of relationship Dallas has with these companies?" Investigative Reporter Mireya Villarreal asked.

"If they are existing contracts, we'll look at the terms of the contract to see what are our potential avenues for relief are if we decide that those are not relationships we want to maintain," Kingston answered.

The review process could take a while, but Kingston believes this could have a bigger impact on future contracts with these businesses.  City Manager AC Gonzalez confirms his office is pulling information on the businesses in question.

We've previously reached out to all of these companies, but still haven't heard back from any of them.  To date, none of them have been charged.
