Dallas To Open Two Federal Disaster Assistance Centers

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Dallas homeowners, renters and business owners impacted by the recent flooding will be able to apply for state and federal help at two locations starting Tuesday, July 7.

The City of Dallas is opening two disaster assistance at the following locations: Lake Highlands North Recreation Center,  9940 White Rock Trail, and Walnut Hill Recreation Center, 10011 Midway Road.  Both centers will be open for two days with morning and evening hours.

Lake Highlands North Recreation Center:  July 7, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.,  July 8, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Walnut Hill Recreation Center:  July 9, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m., July 10, 2 p.m. – 7 p.m.

Funds will be available to those who suffered damage as a result of the flooding which began on May 5 through June 19.  Grants for rental assistance, temporary housing, home repairs, medical, dental, funeral, personal property, vehicles and storage will be offered.  Also, low-interest disaster loans may be available.

Applicants must provide their contact information, social security number, income, insurance and damage information to register in person.  Applicants can also register over the phone (800-621-FEMA (3362) or (TTY) 800-462-7585 between the hours of 6 am - 9 pm) or online (www.DisasterAssistance.gov).  A FEMA inspector will contact applicants after the registration process and meet with the applicant to perform an inspection.
