Dallas Stars Assistant Desjardins Picked To Lead Texas Stars
FRISCO (AP) - Dallas Stars assistant Willie Desjardins has been named head coach of the team's top minor league affiliate in Texas.
The hiring of Desjardins to lead the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League was announced Wednesday. The team is based in the Austin suburb of Cedar Park.
The 55-year-old Desjardins spent two years on the Stars' bench, including last season under former Texas Stars head coach Glen Gulutzan.
Before coming to Dallas, Desjardins spent eight seasons with Medicine Hat in the Western Hockey League. He also coached Saskatoon in the WHL and was the head coach at the University of Calgary from 1989 to 1994.
