Dallas Roads Closing For Weekend Construction
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - You might want to start thinking about some alternate driving routes if you are going to be in Dallas this weekend. Some major freeway and off-ramp closures are expected to really clog up traffic, as construction projects continue across the Metroplex.
Work crews were busy on Friday morning, getting ready to bring down the Montfort Drive bridge over the LBJ Freeway. The barricades are in place. The bulldozers are ready. And the demolition is set to begin Saturday night.
Motorists are advised to avoid this area – at a busy intersection near the Valley View Mall in Dallas – from 6:00 p.m. Saturday through 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, while the bridge is being knocked down. During this time, lanes and off-ramps along the LBJ Freeway will be shut down, including the ramp to Preston Road.
Meanwhile, in downtown Dallas, another major freeway will be closed over the weekend. The connector between Interstate-35E and North Central Expressway is scheduled to be shut down from 5:00 a.m. Sunday to 5:00 a.m. Monday. That will likely impact all traffic in the downtown area.
Of course, in the end, the hope is that drivers will see better roads with less congestion. But for this weekend, consider yourself warned.
