DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) -- Police are searching for a 22-year-old Dallas resident believed responsible for shooting and killing a man on May 21 in Garland.
A murder warrant has been issued for Billy Dupree Owens in the death of Amrit Tejan, 21, who was found dead in his vehicle on May 21 just before 1 a.m.
The red, two-door Saturn had left the roadway and struck a tree in the 4200 block of Bobtown Road. Police say Amrit was killed as a result of a gunshot wound.
"It appears that both were inside the car, but we're going to have to talk to [Owens] on the details," said Garland Officer Joe Harn. "We do believe that he caused the murder of Mr. Tejan."
Harn did not release a motive in the shooting.
Authorities believe Owens is armed and dangerous.
Anyone with information as to his whereabouts is encouraged to contact Garland Crime Stoppers at 972-272-TIPS(8477) or online at garlandcrimestoppers.org. A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered.
