Dallas Real Estate Agent Convicted In 1986 Killing

FORT WORTH (AP) - A Dallas real estate agent who allegedly posed as a buyer has been sentenced to life in prison for the 1986 killing of a woman at her for-sale home.

Jurors in Fort Worth on Tuesday convicted 66-year-old Jay Thayer Williams of capital murder. He was accused of fatally shooting Sandra Martin during an alleged sexual assault.

Prosecutors did not seek the death penalty, so Williams gets an automatic life prison term.

Martin's body was found in her Fort Worth house by her husband. Duct tape was wrapped around her head.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports fingerprints on the tape matched Williams, who was arrested in 2009. Prosecutors say DNA evidence also linked Williams to the September 1986 attack.

Prosecutors say there was no indication that the victim knew Williams.
