Dallas Pregnancy Center 'Taking To The Streets'

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – A longtime pregnancy center is taking its counseling services to the streets of Dallas.

Next week, as part of their new "Save the Storks" program, the Downtown Pregnancy Center is launching a bus campaign. The center, which opened in 1994, offers abortion alternative counseling.

The bright blue "Save the Storks" bus has both a counseling and an examination room onboard, and comes complete with a sonogram machine.

The plan is to park the van outside clinics in Dallas where abortions are performed and offer both counseling and a free sonogram to women before they go into the clinic.

A licensed technician will be performing the sonograms. Counseling for both the expectant mother and father will be offered, along with medical information about abortion procedures.

The Downtown Pregnancy Center is a medical clinic that offers limited services.

According to Executive Director Carolyn Cline, the center offers STD screenings, pregnancy tests, parenting classes for men and women, and post abortion counseling. Cline says they see about 1,000 men and women every year.
