Dallas Police Warn Of Katy Trail Robberies

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Police in Dallas on Monday afternoon warned citizens about a string of recent robberies along the Katy Trail. There have been five cases in the past four days, and authorities are confident that the same two suspects are to blame for the crimes.
The first one happened at around 9:40 p.m. on Thursday night. The armed suspects robbed an individual near the 2700 block of North Houston Street. The same thing happened again twice early Saturday -- at around 6:50 a.m. and 7:20 a.m. -- near the 3200 block of Maple Street, near Reverchon Park. And then twice more at about 1:40 p.m. and 1:45 p.m. on Sunday afternoon near the 3100 block of Routh Street.
The two suspects in each of these robberies have been described as black males in their 20s, between 5 feet 7 inches tall and 6 feet tall, and weighing between 140 pounds and 200 pounds. The suspects were both wearing blue jeans and either grey, black or blue hoodies. And they were armed with a silver revolver.
In addition to the suspect descriptions, the methods used in each of these robbery cases were similar. The men stood along the Katy Trail and blocked the pathway of their victims, demanding property -- cell phones, wallets and cash -- before fleeing from the scene.
The crimes all occurred near trail access points, where the suspects were able to make a quick arrival and getaway.
There have been no injuries reported, yet.
Police have already increased patrols along the Katy Trail in response to this string of robberies. But in the meantime, they are asking trail visitors to be aware of the situation and their surroundings. Take note of trail makers so that emergency personnel can locate you faster.
