Dallas Police Unions Frustrated With Chief Brown

DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Some Dallas police unions have expressed frustration with Chief David Brown after the latest crime numbers, and are looking for changes.
Ron Pinkston with the Dallas Police Association said they have lost faith in Brown to manage the department.
"Many of these murders are tied to drugs and yet we have cut our narcotics unit by more than half. So it's not making sense and the department is in total chaos," said Pinkston.
He said the problem is there are not enough officers, and the detectives they do have are pulled from cases to go work patrol.
"Just like we saw with the Johnny Manziel case a couple of weeks ago. That case lagged because that detective was out there working patrol," he said.
Chief Brown told city council members Monday what's driving the violent crime spike is drug dealers killing each other and family members killing each other.
All four police unions will meet Monday night to come up with a uniformed plan to change the current upward trends in crime.
