DPD To Howard: We're Safer Than Houston
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - The fight for NBA All-Star Dwight Howard is sparking up an age-old Texas rivalry between Dallas and Houston, and the Dallas Police Department has jumped right into the middle of it.
On the same day the Dallas Mavericks made their pitch to lure one of the leagues most desired free agents, the Dallas Police Department tweeted an invitation to the current Los Angeles Laker to come to North Texas.
The tweet, which was taken down within a couple of hours, read: @DwightHoward Dallas PD invites you to come play with the Dallas Mavericks its safer than Houston. @DallasMavsNews @1053thefan
Along with the Mavs, the Houston Rockets and Atlanta Hawks are in the running to add Howard to their rosters.
The Lakers are also fighting to keep Howard and have a financial advantage as they can offer a maximum of $118 million over five seasons. Other teams can offer $88 million over four years.
