Dallas Police Officer Charged With Sexual Assault

MESQUITE (CBSDFW.COM) - An officer with the Dallas Police Department is free on bond today.

Officer Edward Antunez, who is currently assigned to the DPD Southeast Patrol Division, turned himself in at the Mesquite Police Department. He is charged with one count of Sexual Assault, stemming an incident that happened back in March.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, the victim, who works with Antunez, claims he visited her and a friend at her house in Dallas County. The woman said after a while her friend left and she began to prepare for bed. At the time Antunez, 32, watched a movie on a television in her bedroom.

The affidavit then states, the woman got into bed and fell asleep, but awoke to Antunez assaulting her between her legs with his hand and kissing her on the neck.  The 26-year-old woman said Antunez also tried to reveal her breasts by taking off her shirt and bra.

The alleged victim said when she told Antunez to stop, he straddled her legs and started pulling her sweatpants down. The woman said when she told him to stop again he did, but her sweatpants had nearly been pulled down to her knees.

In a press release statement, Mesquite police said, "Because this involves a sexual assault charge, we will not be releasing any further details on this case."

Antunez is free on a $5,000 bond and remains on administrative leave pending the results of an Internal Affairs investigation.
