Dallas Police Officer Identified In Murder-Suicide Incident

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) -- A Dallas police officer is dead after being shot in an apparent murder-suicide. According to officials, Officer Larry Tuttle was found dead at the location by an apparent gunshot wound.

Dallas Police received a 911 call at 6:13 Saturday evening regarding a shooting at 9750 Forrest Lane. Officers responding to the scene found two victims inside an apartment - including Officer Tuttle. The second victim, a woman, has yet to be identified.

Tuttle was a six year veteran of the Dallas Police Department (DPD) and was assigned to the South Central Patrol Division.

According to DPD a preliminary investigation, indicates that the female shot and killed Officer Tuttle prior to taking her own life.

A six year old child was found in the apartment unharmed. Their exact relationship is unclear at this point.

One neighbor at the scene told CBS 11 News on Sunday that they heard "screams" then "multiple gun shots" Saturday evening.

While the officer's name has been released, we are told that the woman's next of kin have not yet been notified.
