Dallas Police Say No Evidence Of Hate Crime In Wednesday Homicide

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Dallas Police are investigating a homicide at an apartment Wednesday afternoon.

Police said officers responded to a call around 4:00 p.m. from Dallas Fire-Rescue regarding a death at 6104 LBJ Service Road.

The victim was Carla Patricia Flores-Pavon, 26. She had been strangled, police said.

A source told CBS11, Flores-Pavon had met up with a man she had connected with on a chat room.

According to a witness, a man with short, dark hair left the victim's apartment shortly before she was found unconscious. Flores-Pavon was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Police said the victim was a transgender woman and added, "There is no evidence at this time to suggest this homicide was the result of a hate crime."

Police released no other information on the suspect.
