DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) — The president of the Dallas Police Association said in a statement Saturday though the group is "appalled at [Beyoncé's] attack on law enforcement during her Super Bowl performance," they will not be calling for a boycott of her North Texas concert scheduled for May.
This comes a day after the vice president of the association told CNN the group was discussing boycotting the singer's Formation World Tour stop in Arlington on May 9. Dallas Police Association president Ron Pinkston said in the statement they will be focusing on reducing violent crime in Dallas instead.
"While many Arlington officers will most certainly decide against working security for Beyoncé's May concert in their city, calling for a boycott is not the official position of the Dallas Police Association," Pinkston said in the statement. "We are appalled at her attack on law enforcement during her Super Bowl performance, but our only focus at this time is reducing the recent 27% surge in violent crime in Dallas."
