Dallas Police And Fire Reject Cuts To Pension Benefits

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Members of the Dallas Police and Fire Pension System rejected a proposed plan to cut pension benefits according to results posted on the system's website.
The DPFP voted against two out of the three proposed amendments that would cut benefits to help the system's financial troubles.
The pension system has been described as "on life support" as officials have said it's losing more than $3 million a month.
The DPFP says the voting process was delayed by one lawsuit and occurred during a lawsuit by Mayor Mike Rawlings.
A judge ruled December 2 against the injunction request.
The DPFP says it will continue to work with the City of Dallas to try and find a solution to secure the fund.
Mayor Mike Rawlings released a statement that read, "This is disappointing, but it doesn't change the fact that the changes we need to save the DPFP must come at the state level."
