DALLAS  Officers shot a suspect inside a stolen vehicle on Thursday after its driver stepped on the gas and rammed two police vehicles.

Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia said the shooting occurred after undercover officers tracked the vehicle to a northeast Dallas apartment complex off Golf Lakes Trail.

"At one point, officers fired their weapons at an armed suspect," said Garcia, noting four suspects were inside the vehicle.

Police arrested Damon Prince, 21, and charged him with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, two counts of aggravated assault public servant, evading detention on foot and a probation violation for manufacture or delivery of a substance.

Deante Moore, 19, was also arrested on two capital murder warrants related to a double homicide that happened in Dallas in March. After the murders, the mother of one of the victims appealed for the killer's capture.

One of the suspects, 17-year-old Eric Lampkin-Scarborough, was struck and had to be taken to a local hospital, where he is expected to survive, police said. As of Friday, he is in stable condition. He will be charged with prohibited weapon and evading detention on foot.

Police are still searching for a fourth suspect who fled the scene. There is no description of this person.

"It's definitely a scary situation," said Michelle Gonzalez, who heard a crash and hurried outside her apartment at about 1 p.m.

"There were like four or five cops running out this way, shooting out," Gonzalez said.

Three weapons were recovered at the location, authorities reported.

"I saw them shooting," Gonzalez said. "I have my two kids at home and so that shook me."

Gonzalez said she headed back to her apartment to ensure her children were not hurt and weren't "around the windows or anything."

"It was like something out of a movie really," said Ishmael Kendrex, who lives in the complex. "I wasn't expecting to wake up this afternoon and see all the cops looking like that."

Garcia said more information will be released soon.

"It was definitely one experience that I never want to see again," Gonzalez said.
