DNT Extension Will Be In Two Counties
Celina's generous offer wasn't enough to bend where the Dallas North Tollway extension will be built.
The new length of road will go right up the Denton-Collin County line, Denton County getting the southbound lanes, the northbound traffic traveling in Collin County. The North Texas Tollway Authority effectively accepted the plan that was initially agreed upon by the two counties back in 2005, an agreement Collin eventually dumped.
The town of Celina had offered the Tollway Authority about 200-million dollars in tax revenue if the road were built two miles to the east, entirely, in Collin County.
