DALLAS (CBSDFW) - A Dallas man has been arrested in the death of his hairdresser aunt.
According to Dallas Police, 29-year old Ernest Scruggs was arrested Wednesday morning following an investigation after his aunt Georgia Scruggs was found dead last week.
Police say the two lived together in an apartment on Walnut Street near 635LBJ and Greenville Ave.
Police found her dead on Wednesday January 13th after doing a welfare check when Georgia's coworkers had gotten worried when she didn't come to work. Reports say Georgia told friends that she had gotten death threats from a crazy family member.
Ernest has been charged with capital murder and with arson. Police say he previously tried to burn down the apartment.
Scruggs was apprehended in Garland on an Arson warrant. He was transported to The Dallas Police Homicide Unit where he gave a voluntary statement detailing his involvement in the murder of the Georgia Scruggs.
Ernest is currently in the Dallas County Jail on a $1 million bond.
