Dallas Jobs Are Expanding In Both Education And Healthcare
According to a recent report from the Dallas Business Journal, for the past seven consecutive months, Texas employers have added jobs. In September, over 26,000 non-farm jobs were added. 224,8000 positions have been added within the year from September 2014 to September 2015.
The education and health services industry added close to 11,000 jobs in Texas. Those with master's degrees in education and healthcare may be considered in the best position for the best jobs in those fields. Two professionals from the education and healthcare fields respectively shared their advice and encouragement on pursuing further education.
Tara Brown is an assistant principal for the Dallas Independent School District. She earned a master's degree in educational administration. "I would encourage that person to go for [a master's degree] now. Make the decision to start and follow through. The rewards have been the quiet steady – doors opening. It is the ability to have the skills and the capability to lead people who make a difference in the lives of DISD students every single day," said Brown.
April Malone is currently a nurse manager in gynecology as part of women's services (which deals with breast surgery, hysterectomy, cervical, breast and uterine cancers, plastic surgery and minimally invasive surgery) at Texas Health Presbyterian of Dallas. Malone earned a master's degree in nursing administration. "[Furthering your education] is one of the best things you can do. You have to further your education in order to stay abreast of the newest developments in technology. Don't be afraid to return to school. There are so many different avenues to furthering your education. You can get your education online and find options that work for you and your family," said Malone.
In a press release issued by the Texas Workforce Commission, Ruth Hughs said, "Private-sector employment was strong in Sept. with our Texas employers outpacing the overall job growth, adding 31,200 jobs."
