Dallas ISD Superintendent Mike Miles Denies Wrongdoing

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Dallas ISD Superintendent Mike Miles has fired back after he was accused of interfering with the outcome of a service contract award and investigation into his actions.

Miles denied wrongdoing in a written statement Sunday. He said it was unfair that a confidential, incomplete report was leaked to the public.

DISD's former communications chief, Rebecca Rodriguez, initiated the investigation with the district's Office of Professional Responsibility. Her concerns were outlined in an internal investigation by the district's OPR.

Miles said he considered a suspension of the OPR investigation for a short time because they were in negotiations with Rodriguez, and those negotiations would likely include confidentiality agreements. The OPR investigation was later ended to avoid any conflict of interest.

The board is now considering hiring an outside source to continue the investigation. They may vote on it Monday.
