Dallas ISD Superintendent Decision Coming Friday
DALLAS: (CBSDFW.COM/AP) — New developments today within the Dallas Independent School District. Embattled Superintendent Mike Miles will know his future with the district by this Friday.
Dallas ISD Board President Miguel Solis spoke with CBS 11's Steve Pickett this afternoon. Solis acknowledged that he does not believe debating the employment of Superintendent Mike Miles is a subject the school board should be discussing.
Solis reiterated that though this is a tough topic to tackle, it is critical for the future of the school system, as well as the city of Dallas.
Trustees argue that this move comes too late, and is against school board rules.
For months now, the trio of school board trustees have tussled with Miles over his direction. Last October, Miles ordered DISD police to remove DISD District 9 trustee Bernadette Nutall from a Dallas middle school after she questioned his staff change decisions. Critics have said Miles should be fired for such actions.
At least two school board seats -- which belong to board members who are suing -- are up for grabs. Those elections could change everything.
