DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Emergency crews with Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to a two-alarm house fire Tuesday morning. The incident was first reported at about 9:00 a.m. in the 3200 block of Regent Drive, near the intersection of Royal Lane and Webb Chapel Road.

Investigators determined that the fire was accidentally started when one of the workers found a wasp nest inside the storage shed and decided to burn it with a heat source and flammable liquid. After burning the nest, the worker believed he had completely extinguished the flames; but after smoldering for an unknown amount of time, the flames eventually rekindled and started the fire.

When firefighters first arrived at the scene, flames had already engulfed a storage shed behind the home and an area of fence. Before crews could begin their attack, the fire spread to the main home and some flames started to shoot through the roof.

The fire was so intense that it spread to another neighboring home, which also saw significant damage to one side.

Investigators determined that the fire started in the shed and traveled along the fence until it reached the house, which is currently under renovation. The exact cause of the blaze is still being investigated. At least three workers were inside of the house when the fire started, but everyone was able to get out safely.

"I knew they were working on it. I saw the workers, that was a relief," said neighbor Pablo Garcia, who called 911. "The other house, I was kind of worried about that house."

Nobody was hurt during this incident. A cat was alone inside of the second house and was later reunited with its owner.

The flames appeared to have been extinguished by 10:00 a.m. and fire crews were checking through both structures for any remaining hot spots. The home that was under renovation will likely be a total loss, but crews were able to save the neighboring home, keeping the fire contained to one portion of the attic.
