Dallas High School DQ'd From UIL Playoffs
DALLAS (AP) - A Dallas high school has been disqualified from the Class 3A Division II football playoffs after discovering that it had used a player who was ineligible to play.
Dallas Roosevelt was the District 11-3A runner up in the Class 3A Division II playoffs with a 27-26 win over Wilmer-Hutchins on Oct. 19.
The Dallas Morning News reports Roosevelt officials forfeited that win on Monday after discovering a player was living with his godparents in the school's attendance zone when his parents lived elsewhere. That violates UIL residency rules.
With the forfeit, 5-4 Wilmer-Hutchins will replace Dallas Roosevelt in the opening round of the state 3A playoffs. It'll face Melissa at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Wildcat-Ram Stadium in Richardson.
