Dallas Firefighter Injured Putting Out Flames, 50 Residents Displaced
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A three-alarm fire broke out at the Heritage Apartments on Highland Road Sunday, injuring a firefighter and forcing about 50 residents to run from their homes.
Officials said the firefighter's injuries were not life threatening. He was wheeled out on a stretcher and checked by paramedics and should be OK.
Residents saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the second floor. The Salvation Army was at the complex Sunday evening to help.
"We lost everything," said resident Janice Alexander.
At about 5:30 p.m., firefighters were still putting out hot spots and cleaning up. Officials said it is too early to determine how the fire started.
