Dallas Fire Rescue Receives Pet Oxygen Masks
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Dallas Fire-Rescue stations are now equipped with oxygen masks for pets they may come across while on duty. The department received 114 pet oxygen kits recently -- a donation made possible through a partnership between the Highland Meadows Neighborhood Association and Invisible Fence, a company that offers services to increase pet safety.
"The worst thing that can happen is, you not only lose your house, and your possessions but you also lose your best friend. So this is what this is about. It's about helping save lives," said Steve Monaghan with Invisible Fence Brand, an underground pet fence company.
The new masks are designed specifically for animals and have a rubber seal that goes around the pet's muzzle. They are a much better alternative than using human oxygen masks on pets as firefighters have done in the past.
