Dallas FBI Rescues 6 Juveniles From Sex Trafficking Operations
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – A nationwide investigation netted the recovery of six underage victims in the Dallas area who were being used in sex trafficking operations, the FBI said Monday.
Teaming with the Department of Justice and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, the FBI arrested 104 pimps and recovered 79 children throughout the country.
The Dallas branch of the FBI rescued six children and no pimps were charged. It wasn't clear which city the children were found in.
In a statement, FBI spokesman said, "Child prostitution remains a major threat to children across America. It is a violent and deplorable crime, and we are working with our partners to disrupt and put behind bars individuals and members of criminal enterprises who would sexually exploit children."
The investigation was part of the Innocence Lost National Initiative, which started in 2003 and has rescued more than 2,200 children and reached 1,017 convictions nationwide.
In a release, the bureau said the investigations target truck stops, casinos and the Internet using information gathered by agents in each jurisdiction.
The city where the most pimps were arrested was in New Orleans, 10. Dallas was one of the six cities with the most children rescued –– agents found six children in Dallas, Detroit, Milwaukee, Sacramento, San Francisco and Seattle.
