Dallas Fast Food Manager Finds Happiness In Career Success
Fast food restaurants are one of the fastest growing industries in the country. Everybody is on the go, and the need to be fed and keep going is a national obsession. If you think being a teenager flipping burgers and making minimum wage is the only thing one can do at a fast food restaurant, think again.
Gloria Washington is a manager at one of Dallas' busiest McDonald's restaurants.
She holds a master's degree in business administration with a minor in accounting from Jackson State University in Mississippi and has been with the McDonald's Corporation for 26 years.
"I love it. Talking with customers, working on budgets," said Washington. "It is rewarding, not just financially, but intellectually. I get to use my skills in accounting."
"Education is vital to success. I would strongly suggest that people go back to school given the opportunity," she comments.
Washington realizes that she could work for another corporation with her skills saying, "My family and friends have often asked why I work at McDonald's. I tell them that it is something that I enjoy and that means a lot to me. I love interacting with people and helping them get what they need. To me, happiness is career success. It doesn't matter where you work, you just need to take pride in what you do."
"Education is the most important thing that you can get in your life. It is something that you can achieve and nobody can take it away from you. It is up to you; if you want to achieve greatness, get an education," said Washington.
