Dallas Dollar General Clerk Shot & Killed During Robbery
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Authorities in Dallas are searching for the armed robber who shot and killed a Dollar General worker on Monday night. The shooting happened just after 7:00 p.m. at the store located in the 4800 block of Sunnyvale Street.
Surveillance camera video showed the suspect entering the store with a gun in his hand. At the time of the robbery he was wearing sliced/cutup jeans, a dark colored hoodie, a turquoise or teal baseball cap and black tennis shoes with white soles. He was also carrying a royal blue gym bag that had grey or silver stripes on it.
The gunman approached the store clerk, 27-year-old clerk Gabrielle Simmons, and demanded property. Simmons complied and handed the man property and the entire cash register drawer. After stuffing the property in the bag the gunman fired one shot, hitting Simmons in the chest.
There were customers in the store at the time. The suspect ran from the scene on foot, taking off down a side street.
Simmons, a mother of two, died from her injuries. The gunman is still on the loose.

Oak Farms Dairy is offering a $10,000 reward in connection with Monday evening's robbery and fatal shooting of a Dollar General store clerk in Dallas.
Dollar General issued a written statement on Tuesday morning regarding this tragic case.
"The Dollar General family is deeply saddened and heartbroken over the loss of our employee in Dallas. Our thoughts are with her family and friends."
