Watkins Not Dropping Charges Against Bryant
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Dallas District Attorney Craig Watkins will move forward with the domestic violence case against Dallas Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant, despite a request from his mother not to press charges.
A spokesperson for the D.A.'s office says Watkins accepted the case from Desoto Police and is reviewing it.
Bryant is accused of attacking his mother, Angela Bryant, in July. She reported to police that he ripped her shirt and bra, pulled her hair and slapped her across the face with his hat.
Last month, sources close to the situation reported that Bryant would plead guilty to a Class C misdemeanor, which would result in the wide receiver taking anger management classes and paying a $500 fine. Sources close to Bryant said there were no such negotiations or agreement.
