DALLAS (CBS11 SPORTS) - Cowboys starting defensive tackle Tyrone Crawford and starting guard Zack Martin are used to going against one another in practice, but when it comes to preventing animal cruelty, they're on the same side.

The teammates are two of the many athletes taking part in a nationwide campaign called, Show Your Soft Side.

Founded in Baltimore, it's making it's way across the country, including a stop in Dallas.

The prime mission is to reach young people.

"A lot of the cases of animal cruelty are being perpetrated by children" says Carolina Griffin, founder of Show Your Soft Side.

Stopping the pattern early will go along way in stopping it altogether," says  Zack Martin. "It's awesome that some many athletes with enormous platforms are using their voice to make a difference."

Tyrone Crawford says seeing animals get mistreated, "brings tears to my eyes."

Costa Sports Marketing along with Dallas Companion Animal Project stepped up the plate as well lending a helping hand to Show Your Soft Side.

The hope is for others, even if they're not professional athletes, to pitch in as well.

It's not yet clear how the photos will be used.  Possibly on postcards or a calendar.
