Dallas Cowboys Jay Ratliff DWI Case Postponed
TARRANT COUNTY (KRLD) - A Tarrant County judge has postponed the drunk driving case against Dallas Cowboy defensive tackle Jay Ratliff until after the current football season.
Ratliff was arrested January 22 after his pickup truck collided with a 18-wheeler before running into a guardrail on State Highway 114 in Grapevine. Ratliff failed his sobriety test and declined to submit to a Breathalyzer test. Police secured a search warrant, took him to the Grapevine jail and took a blood sample. Grapevine Police say the results of Ratliff's blood test showed a BAC of 0.16, twice the legal limit.
Ratliff's case was up for a hearing Thursday morning, but the judge continued it until February 20th....well after this season is over.
Jeff Miracle of MADD would rather see this settled quicker, but he notes it isn't out of the ordinary for cases like this to be delayed.
"In this case, fortunately there was not a victim outside that was injured. In any case, we really want to see things get settled quickly because what we want to see is the person who is the accused offender to get over that, to get help," said Miracle.
Ratliff is eligible to play but is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury.
