Dallas County Sheriff's Deputy Arrested For Theft

DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - A Dallas County Sheriff's Deputy was charged with theft for allegedly stealing from his off-duty part-time job.
49-year-old Darrell Markeith Moore, a Deputy Sheriff since 1992, turned himself in Tuesday morning after a Garland investigation into alleged thefts from a Tom Thumb store where the Deputy worked part time.
Moore was charged with theft (over $50.00 but under $500.00) which is a class B misdemeanor.
According to police, Moore waived his booking and arraignment and posted a Personal Recognizance Bond on the charge.
"All people are entitled to due process and we need to allow that process to continue for Darrell Moore" Sheriff Lupe Valdez said in a released statement. "We take this matter very seriously and a full investigation is under way. At the conclusion of the administrative investigation, we will determine what policies may have been violated."
Moore was hired by the Dallas County Sheriff's Department as a Detention Service Officer in March 1989 and promoted to Deputy Sheriff in June 1992, according to Dallas County officials.
He is currently on restricted duty pending the outcome of not only an internal administrative investigation but also the criminal case from Garland.
