Dallas County Records Building Re-Opens
Police and Dallas County sheriff's deputies have allowed the Dallas County Records Building to open this morning after calling off a search for an intruder that began around 6 a.m. when maintenance workers reported a break-in. Several streets were closed around the building, near Dealey Plaza in downtown Dallas, while deputies, armed with rifles, conducted a floor-by-floor, room-by-room search. After deciding the building was clear, they authorized county workers to enter for their day's work.
The county records building, near Main and Houston, was closed for nearly a month when a water main break flooded the building in early June, causing millions of dollars in damage.
