Dallas Co. DA Susan Hawk Taking Leave Of Office For Mental Health

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM/1080 KRLD) - A statement released from the Dallas County D.A.'s office Friday states that Susan Hawk is currently seeking new treatment for her mental health issues.
It was in August of 2015 when Hawk announced she would take four weeks of unpaid leave to "to work through a serious episode of depression." At the time, Hawk's political advisor, Mari Woodlief, said that the DA was taking much-needed time off after working long hours and most weekends since she entered office. Hawk ended up extended that leave through October 2.
Hawk's tenure, since talking office in January 2015, has been marked by controversy and drama within the office. She fired some of her top managers, including Bill Wirskye, her initial choice to serve as First Assistant DA and dismantled the office's new digital forensics lab, which was designed to speed up criminal cases.
Dallas County Commissioners later appointed Ellis County District Attorney Patrick Wilson to represent the state in the case to remove Hawk from office, but a specially appointed judge ruled she could keep her job.
