DALLAS, Texas (1080 KRLD) - For the second time in a few weeks Dallas County District Attorney Susan Hawk has shaken-up her office.
Bill Wirskye was one of Hawk's major supporters last year as she ran against incumbent DA Craig Watkins, and the day Hawk took office Wirskye was sworn in as her top assistant.
Today, less than three months after Hawk took over, Wirskye is out.
"It became apparent to me that our leadership and our communication styles are just not a good fit" said Hawk. "It's something that was not going to be able to be worked around."
1080 KRLD's L.P. Phillips spoke with DA Susan Hawk:
Wirskye made national headlines in December when he led a team of prosecutors that convicted former Kaufman County judge Eric Williams of murdering the Kaufman Co DA and his wife, then landed the death penalty.
Sources say the tension has been building since Hawk took over at the Dallas County DA's office.
"Transition is never easy" said Hawk. "We have fantastic people that work at the DA's office and I have a lot of respect for Mr. Wirskye and I wish him all the best."
A few weeks ago, Hawk accepted the resignation former Judge Jennifer Balido, who was hired to run the Public Integrity Unit.
