Dallas-Bound Southwest Flight Canceled After Box Cutter Found

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM/AP) - A Dallas-bound Southwest Airlines flight from Houston has been canceled after a passenger spotted a box cutter on the plane.

Southwest spokeswoman Olga Romero says a passenger on the scheduled 6:15 a.m. Monday flight from Houston's Hobby Airport made the discovery.

"During the boarding process a customer found a box cutter device in the overhead bin and turned the item over to the flight crew," she said.

The plane's captain alerted airport security. All 97 passengers were taken off the plane and re-screened.

The plane was searched, but no other hazards were found.

Romero says the passengers have since been rebooked and arrived at Dallas Love Field Airport.

The Transportation Security Administration didn't immediately return a phone call seeking comment.
