Dallas Attorney Lining Up To Sue Lance Armstrong After His Confession
DALLAS (CBS 11 NEWS) - A frank confession from Lance Armstrong is something Dallas attorney, Jeffrey Tillotson, thought he'd never hear.
"Surprised the heck out of me. When a guy will tell you under oath 10 different ways, he never doped – you don't expect he'll end up on a couch with Oprah Winfrey saying that's exactly what he did," said Tillotson.
In 2005, he questioned Armstrong under oath in a videotaped deposition.
"How many times do I have to say it?" Armstrong told him, at the time. "I've never taken drugs."
Tillotson was representing SCA Promotions, a Dallas company refusing to pay Armstrong 12 million dollars in prize money for winning the Tour De France three years in a row.
"There was no doubt in my mind that Lance Armstrong was using performance enhancing drugs," he said.
At the time, though, few shared his opinion.
"We were the start of it, yes. We were at the forefront. We were doing the stuff, that we were basically criticized for. 'Why are you chasing this guy? He's clean'."
Now years later, he's prepared to sue for the money his clients were forced to pay.
"Yes, I think with all due respect we want our money back, because he never should have been paid it in the first place," he said.
