Dallas Air Passenger Quarantined For Medical Scare

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A passenger flying from Dallas-Fort Worth Airport to Nashville was quarantined overnight Sunday after a medical emergency during the flight.
The passenger became ill on American Airlines Flight 1676 and was escorted off the rear of the plane once it landed at Nashville International Airport at 11:40 pm. The plane was diverted to a remote area of the airport and the patient was then taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
There were 140 passengers on the MD-80 plane with 5 crew members, all of which were held on the plane for about three hours until the plane was redirected to its original gate and they were allowed to deboard around 2:40 a.m..
The Metro Public Health Department said the passenger had not been in contact with anyone with Ebola in Dallas and had not traveled recently to Africa.
However, the landing process was not standard operating procedure for a flight with a medical emergency, according to an American Airlines spokesperson.
The airport determined that the plane should be moved to another location. A spokesperson for the Nashville Airport Authority said the communicable disease standard operating procedures were activated based on the symptoms reported from the airline.
