Dak's 'Everything' As Romo Stays With Cowboys Scout Team

FRISCO (105.3 THE FAN) - On Sunday, after guiding the Cowboys to a blowout win in Cleveland, rookie Dak Prescott was asked what rehabbing veteran QB Tony Romo had helped him with in preparation for what has become a 7-1 start to the season.
"Everything,'' Dak said. "I don't think we have enough time for me to go through all of the things he's helped me with, and continues to do.''
Romo-As-Helper continues today at The Star in Frisco, as the Cowboys practice outdoors in rainy weather with Prescott as the No. 1 QB, Mark Sanchez as his backup, and Romo prepping to do scout-team work.
Does Romo — who hasn't played in a game since being injured in Seattle on Aug. 25 and who hasn't played in a "real'' game since being injured for a second time in the 2015 season against Carolina on Nov. 26 — feel like he's close?
"Yeah,'' coach Jason Garrett said. "He's champing at the bit. We'll watch him today at practice and see how he does."
It will be a progressive step, but the essence of this is that while Romo is getting healthier, the Cowboys' QB situation is unchanged. The starter in a Wednesday practice can be expected to be the starter in a Sunday game, and Dallas is at Pittsburgh this weekend … with expectations that "The Hot-Hand Theory'' remains in place, and therefore so does Prescott.
And Romo's job? Keep conditioning. Keep hoping for a chance at competing. And keep helping Dak with "everything.''
