Daily Deal Website Is No Deal At All Says BBB
NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Millions of people chose to shop online for Christmas gifts this year. But a North Texas based website offering daily deals is attracting hundreds of complaints. Consumers say they ordered and paid for merchandise -- and never received it.
Now the Better Business Bureau is warning shoppers about the company.
Lisa Castillo of Grapevine has most of her family's Christmas presents under their tree and sent gifts to relatives and friends. But, she says, she's "still working on three gifts - important gifts too."
Back in October, she says she went to a North Texas based daily deal website called savemore.com.
Castillo says she bought a voucher for $30 - and in November, used it to go to another website and buy two sterling silver necklaces valued at $130.
But she says she still hasn't received the jewelry. "I don't have a gift for my mom, I don't have a gift for my mother-in-law and I don't have my money or my merchandise."
After leaving repeated phone and email messages, Castillo said the company responded by saying they'd have the items here before Christmas.
But she still has nothing. "I can't even begin to tell you how frustrating it was."
Castillo isn't alone. The Better Business Bureau in Dallas says it has received more than 260 complaints against savemore.com from customers all across the country. The agency gives the company an F rating.
The Better Business Bureau says savemore.com has resolved some complaints. But the agency says many other complaints against the company are still pending.
Castillo says, "I've done everything I could do except go to their office."
But we did go. And at their Addison office, we found no one inside the lobby. A post-it note directed people around back.
So we went, and asked an employee if an owner or a manager was there. The employee said there wasn't, and then shut the door.
As for Lisa Castillo, "Yes, I'm very angry."
Now she wants something that could save her from more aggravation.
