DA: Kidnapper Was Brutal, Sentenced To 60 Years
COLLIN COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) - A Dallas man has been sentenced to 60 years in prison for kidnapping a woman in an attempt to sexually assault her.
Convicted kidnapper Dietrick Johnson, 48, and the victim had a previous relationship. Johnson began harassing the victim after the two stopped dating. Even after being told by police to leave the woman alone, Johnson continued to show up on her property and stalking charges were eventually filed against him.
It was March of 2011 when Johnson jumped from behind a parking lot trash dumpster and wielded a gun on the woman as she tried to enter her place of employment. With the gun in the victim's side, Johnson forced her back into her car. As Johnson later forced the victim into his own car, he rationalized that grabbing her was the only way for him to talk to her about the pending stalking charges that he wanted dropped.
The woman's morning of torture continued as Johnson took the woman to his apartment and force her to call the Dallas County District Attorney's Office and ask that the stalking charges be dropped. During the kidnapping, Johnson demanded sex from the woman and fearing for her life she ultimately submitted.
Johnson pled guilty to three felony offenses including aggravated kidnapping and violation of a protective order. All of his sentences will run concurrently, not allowing for the possibility of parole for 30 years.
