Cruz, Sadler Stay Civil In Final US Senate Debate
DALLAS (AP) - The two bitter rivals for Texas' open U.S. Senate seat have stayed calm and civil during their second and final debate.
Republican tea party favorite Ted Cruz agreed almost as much as he differed with Democrat Paul Sadler on Friday. Both are competing in Nov. 6 election to succeed retiring U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison.
A key point of contention was Cruz's vow to not raise taxes on any Texan. Sadler said he wasn't afraid to examine raising taxes and that "shared sacrifice" was the only way to pay down the debt.
But things also stayed remarkably calm and relaxed.
It was a far cry from the Oct. 2 debate when Sadler called Cruz a "troll."
