ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) -- Three members of the Texas Rangers were selected by voters to play for the American League in the 2013 Major League Baseball All-Star Game.

Outfielder Nelson Cruz, starter Yu Darvish and closer Joe Nathan were selected by vote of the league's players, managers, and coaches.

Reliever Tanner Scheppers was named as one of five pitchers in contention for the 34th and final spot on the American League team. An online fan ballot, which ends on Thursday at 3:00 p.m., will be used to select the final player.

Fans can vote for Scheppers at MLB.com/vote or by texting A4 to 89269. (Standard message and data rates may apply)

Scheppers joins right-handed relievers Joaquin Benoit of Detroit, Steve Delabar of Toronto, David Robertson of New York, and Koji Uehara of Boston as the candidates for the A.L.'s final spot on the 13-man pitching staff.

Darvish and Cruz will be going to the All-Star Game for the second time, while Nathan will make his sixth trip. Darvish becomes the first Ranger to ever be selected as an All-Star in his first two major league seasons.

The 34th All-Star game will be played on Tuesday, July 16 at Citi Field in New York.
