Cruz Misses Deadline, Dewhurst Scrubs Website
AUSTIN (AP) - U.S. Senate candidate Ted Cruz's campaign acknowledges he missed a deadline to file his financial disclosure forms, but is also challenging Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst to explain why his office deleted past speeches from his official website.
A spokesman for the Cruz campaign said Wednesday that Cruz filed his disclosure two months late and will pay a $200 fine. He also pointed out that a speech that Dewhurst gave supporting a guest worker program to allow illegal workers to remain in the country was no longer available online.
Dewhurst's official spokeswoman said the lieutenant governor's office requested that all of his speeches be deleted over a year ago. Some links, though, were still active within the last month. She could not explain why the order was given.
