Crews Squash Fire At Dallas Nursing Home

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Emergency crews in Dallas responded to a fire alarm at a nursing home on Wednesday morning. The incident took place at about 8:15 a.m. in the 11000 block of High Dale Drive, in the northwest portion of Dallas. Firefighters arrived at the scene to find smoke coming from the building.

Crews attacked the fire while evacuating around 50 people into the nursing home's lobby area. DART buses arrived to provide a place for any residents who could not remain in the building due to space issues.

Officials stated that a small fire had started inside of a wall. The flames have been extinguished and the cause of the fire is now under investigation. Nobody was injured during this incident.

The fire went to a second alarm as a precaution, officials said, in the event that flames had spread into the attic and then escalated into a more serious matter. Thankfully, that was not the case, and firefighters were able to contain the blaze before it did much damage.
